Update 2-28-2010

We will be staying a 5th night and maybe even a few more. Erin’s blood pressure is super high this morning and they wouldn’t discharge us. They are treating with meds and about to change the dosage to twice a day. It is currently down to 150/80, which at this point, is really good. Fingers crossed it will continue to drop. Then again, I think Erin secretly wants it to stay up so that she can be closer to the boys.

Speaking of, the boys are good. They are still having some “Brady” issues which is when they forget to breathe and their heart rate drops drastically. Landon more than Hudson as of now. They actually just started Landon on caffeine. I offered to just put some Dr Pepper in his IV, but they didn’t think it was as funny as I did. The caffeine should help him become more stable, i.e. keep his energy level up so that he remembers that he is supposed to breathe. Minor details, right?! For Hudson, they put the Cannula, which is the tube in his nose, back on. He originally had it for extra oxygen, but it is now there for the extra flow of air that should help him along and give him a gentle reminder on breathing. As for food, their feedings have gone from 4 cc to 18 cc through their feeding tube. The big win is that they are both now sucking on their pacifiers during feedings, which is good as they are starting to associate the full tummy with needing to suck. We have been enjoying our kangaroo care time, which is when we get to hold them on our chest from anywhere from one to two hours. We only get to do this twice a day. Makes it easier that we have two babies, otherwise I would probably be left out on this one. I’ve never seen Erin smile bigger than during this time!

And we are sorry for the lack of communication over the past couple of days. Between NICU time, pumping and constant nurse checks on Erin, any downtime we have found as been spent resting and trying to keep her BP down. I’m going to try and continue to update the blog with more pictures (and video). I’ve been trying to do it for three days, but to hard to keep my eyes open when I finally get back to room!

Hudson and Landon are here!

Hudson Wilder (3 lbs 11.2 oz; 16.5 inches long) and Landon Wilder (3 lbs 8.3 oz; 17 inches) are now 2 days old and starting to get the hang of this real world stuff. Enjoy a few pictures of our sweet boys that were born at 32 weeks. The iv, feeding tube and random cords look a little much at times, but they are needed for now. Overall, the boys are doing great and have started to rely on the extra support less. In fact, Hudson is completely off of oxygen and breathing on his own, and Landon only needs a little extra help. They are also increasing their food intake later today. We have been able to spend a lot of time with them both. We are allowed in the NICU 24/7, but can only touch (and sometimes hold) every 3 hours. We are expecting another 4 to 6 weeks up here at the hospital and looking forward to the day we can take them home!

Josie & Riley’s birthday party!

We celebrated Josie and Riley turning 4! Josie’s b-day was on Feb. 16, and Riley's was on Feb. 17. We had  a great time playing, opening gifts, and having cake and ice cream! All of my nieces are just too cute for words!

A hug before the opening begins!

The room is finally complete!

We finished a few things in the room this week, so now it’s finally complete! We are glad that it’s done now, and I was hoping to have it done at 30 weeks. It’s fun to see it all put together, and it will be even better when the boys are in there.

Week 30

It’s hard to believe we are already in week 30! Time is flying by. We had a sono on Tues., but measurements weren’t taken at this one. As far as they could tell, the boys are over 3 lbs each, which is great! Landon seemed to hog the camera this time, so we only got one good shot of Hudson. :) My cervix has shortened from 4 cm to 3 cm, which is going to happen naturally as the weeks go on. The Dr. did say that I have to sit as much as possible to keep it from shortening too quickly. I certainly do not want to be on bed rest! My team at school is wonderful, they are really taking care of me! I will be going in weekly now, so I will have another update after Monday’s appt.

School baby shower

My team threw a baby shower last Wed., and it was wonderful. It was supposed to be with two other teachers that are having babies, but one went into labor the night before. So, it ended up being just Emily and I. We had a great time, and my team is so sweet for putting this on! Here are a few pics…

Fun with Friends!

Saturday’s baby shower was so much fun! Rachel, Tracy, Steph, and my sisters really threw a beautiful shower. The food, decor, and everything was perfect.   It was great to see so many friends  & catch up, and I’m so thankful for everyone coming. The gifts were so generous, and it was fun to get so many new clothes! :)  Jason and I had fun putting things away today and getting organized.

The boys are indeed growing!- Week 29

Well, the boys must be growing rapidly because several people this week told me that I looked bigger from day to day. I feel a lot bigger, too. I actually ran into the back of a student’s head with my tummy. I felt so bad, but had to laugh! I just didn’t think it was out that far!

Jason took a few pictures on Wed, beginning of week 29.  Nothing like feeling half asleep at 6:45 am!

This was also the day of my school shower! It was so much fun!
