The line of the day: I heard one of your boys is at home, why haven’t you updated your blog. My response, refer back to the first part of your comment! :)
Yes, indeed. Hudson made his grand exit from the NICU on Friday, 38 days after entering. It was a bit scary to think we were now responsible, but we were sure glad to cut back the number of hospitals to one. He is getting adjusted to the home life. We have been able to keep a similar schedule to what the nurses at the NICU set. It hasn’t been as difficult as we first thought. We joke that it is a little too quiet, and we need to put some machines in his room that make random beeping sounds so that he can sleep. He also keeps telling us that he misses his brother.
Hmm, now that you are home… what do we do with you?! Kidding. But you do look super small in your new crib.
We think Landon has a crush on one of the nurses… maybe even two or three. We were getting so close to leaving 10 days ago. Then in this past week, he has had at least one brady (i.e. heart rate drops) every day. We think it might be reflux, but they keep telling us that it is normal for premature babies to do this. It is just tough to keep hearing that we have 5 more days… which isn’t a prob, but the 5 day count keeps getting reset every day. We are now in the mindset that it will be 2 more weeks. If we get within 48 hours, let us know. But don’t worry about Landon, he is still smiling.
The other major challenge is that we can no long visit Landon together. Now that Hudson is on the outside, he is no longer allowed back in. Therefore, one of us has to stay home while the other goes to the hospital. We have been trading off several times a day. We figured out that we will each have 2 hours back in our day once we factor out travel time to and from the hospital. Which means more time for fun photos like this these:
Our first bath. Well, kind of. With the surgery less than a week ago, we still can’t actually submerge him. For now, we can only do a sponge bath. He didn’t seem to mind.
We celebrated Easter with some fun pictures. Hopefully Hudson won’t hold it against me when he is old enough to know better.
Check out this girlie Easter outfit for Landon.
p.s. Aunt Tara bought it, don’t be blaming mom or dad for this one.
Aunt Rain finally got a chance to meet Hud… they seem to be getting along just fine. It will be some time before Cal and all of the nieces get their chance. Unfortunately, we have been instructed to keep kids under 10 away from our guys until they are 6 weeks past term. For Landon, that doesn’t seem to be an issue as he will probably still be in the NICU. :) It seems crazy, but their immune systems never really had a chance to form. Probably overkill by the doctors, but not something we are willing to chance.
We are only allowed to take Hudson out to two places… the pediatrician and for a walk. Didn’t have to tell us twice.
The grandparents have all made visits to see Hud. p.s. they have also spent a number of hours with Landon during those feeding times that Erin and I can’t.
Hudson is definitely ready for baseball season. Heck, the Rangers still have a perfect season going.
Mom carrying Hudson to his first doctors visit. It was an easy one. No shots! And Hud fell asleep on the exam table! And we gained weight. Hudson is now 6 lbs, 6 ounces. He gained 4 ounces from Friday to Monday. I think he likes momma’s home cooked meals.
And don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about Landon. Now that we are alone up there, it is tough finding time to take pictures. We will end the night with our little guy that is turning into our fatty. He is now 6 lbs, 1 ounce!

You two are obviously fabulous parents! Hudson and Landon are both adorable too! Can't wait to meet them in person one of these days!
