1 Week!

The boys turned 1 week old today! Wow, talk about a blur! The biggest advancement from Erin’s standpoint is that they can now start wearing clothes. The issues, 1) preemie clothes are difficult to find, and 2) when you do find them, you still have to roll up the legs and arms for them to fit. The biggest advancement from a medical standpoint is that the IV is now officially done. They are receiving all of their food through the feeding tube. This also means no more needles sticking out of their forehead. As you can imagine, this makes mom and dad happy.

Both boys are now above their birth weight. They are continuing to climb in feedings, now up to 26 cc every three hours. The goal is 30 to 32 right now. As they gain more weight, they will keep increasing it. They are also adding in some muscle milk (ok, it isn’t muscle milk, but you wouldn’t understand if I gave you the medical term) to increase the calories and calcium in take.

Hudson is now in big boy diapers. Ok, they are still preemie, but he made the jump. They look so big on him that we thought Landon could fit in there with him. Landon should be graduating to the next level in a few days.

As for Erin and I, we are hanging in there. Going up to see them in the morning/lunch hour and then going back in the evening there. It is super tough to leave, but know it is best. We received advice early on that we should focus on quality time rather than quantity. During each of these trips, we get to hold them 2 to 3 hours. It has been quite amazing.

Also, we want to thank our families and friends for all of the encouragement, support, car rides, meals, etc.. We appreciate all of the emails and phone calls too. We are sorry that we haven’t called people back like we thought we would have time for. We hope to be in touch soon.

And we need to give a shout out to Aly. She sent us a good luck email at the exact minute the boys were born. ;)

Enjoy some current pictures.
