10 Days Down!

The boys are now 10 days old and doing amazing.

Mom and Dad are starting to adjust to everything as well. It has been tough balancing trips to the hospital, touch times, pumping, etc, but we are getting the hang of it. Ernie (aka Grandpa) has been great in providing carpool every morning. Hopefully I will be cleared to drive soon and make it a little bit easier and less bothersome on others.

The NICU has been crazy this week. When we arrived, we were babies 2 and 3. And the parents of the other baby lived across the street from us when we first moved to Little Elm. Small world, huh?! Well, on Thursday morning, our small quaint family grew to 11 babies. Kind of crazy when they are only set up to handle 8. The good news, the staff did an amazing job bringing in portable monitors and handling the level of care that these little guys need. We were also lucky enough to be moved to a side corner. The boys are closer to each other, and we can now arrange pictures with them together. Before, the cords attached to them were not long enough to position them.

And speaking of the boys, they are continuing to make progress. They are up to 32 (Hud) and 30 (Lan) cc of food everything 3 hours. And they are still getting the extra calories added to it. The increase in food has made them spit up a lot more, but they are starting to adjust. It is tough to see them gag and spit up. I think the line the nurse gives me is, "they are preemies being preemies."

They are still having brady spells.  A lot less, but still happening.  The canula’s and caffeine (only with Landon) are helping.  In fact, Landon was being a pickle and kept yanking on his.  They went ahead and tried to remove it, but had to quickly put it back.  Hopefully they will be better in another couple of days.

They are still growing.  Hudson is almost 4 pounds and Landon is 3 lbs 10 oz.  Both of which are above their birth weight.  And Hudson was able to graduate to the crib.  He has to continue to prove that he can hold his body temp (so that he doesn’t burn a bunch of calories), but so far so good.  Then again, they swaddle him with two blankets and then toss another on top of him.  As for Landon, he has another couple days before he can make the change.

Hudson is still getting used to his new size in diapers. They are still pretty big. They also tried Landon in the big boy (regular preemie) diapers, but quickly got switched back. They pretty much reached his armpit. To give you an idea how small their diaper is, here is a photo of a regular newborn diaper next to their extra small preemie diapers.

We also received good news this week that grandparents will now be allowed to visit. We will hopefully upload pictures from their visits tomorrow.

Here are some new pictures, enjoy.

Seriously, do you have to keep putting all this tape on my face?

I'll behave, just stop with the tape

Check out my new outfit, they told me it was a preemie.

 Hi Mom

I’m a gymnast when I don’t want to behave.

I'm a gymnist when I don't want to do what they are wanting

These bigger diapers are huge. Don’t worry they switched back.

I'm not ready for those diapers, they go up to my arm pit
